About Me
- Racing101
- For the past few years, I have dedicated the majority of my time to horse racing. I have become an established member of numerous racing forums and I am sure a few of you will have seen my 'Please Ignore' threads on GG and Everythinghorseracing.co.uk (great forum). In my spare time I also advise a number of parties concerning bloodstock and dosage profiles. In the last 5 years I have formulated numerous selection filters and rating systems which have allowed me to achieve substantial profit on a yearly basis. I have also established links with a number of stables, and receive regular info which I will share on the blog as and when I receive it. For me horse racing is a passion and I'm always looking at ways to improve, both as a tipster and as an equine enthusiast. I hope you enjoy reading my blog and feel free to contact me either via email at myhorseracing101@gmail.com or via twitter at horses4course.

9:20 WOLVERHAMPTON
Knowe Head (13/2) - 3pt win & 1pt e/w - No holding back in the lucky last. Plenty of average horses in this affair but Knowe Head is at home at the track and although he is on a career high mark, in this company he may well find further improvement and his last race on a reappearance from a break should have put him exactly where he needs to be in terms of fitness. Kirby has ridden the horse on 2 occasions and been placed both times so that also bodes well.
6:50 WOLVERHAMPTON
Tislaam (7/1) - 1pt e/w - This horse has dropped to a dangerous looking mark and he has run very well over CD in the past. He is well drawn and although his recent performances haven't been up to his usual standards, his shrewd connections may have found him a perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways. It's also Harley's only ride at the course and given his strike rate for the yard (20%+) that has to be a solid indicator of the horse's chances.
5:50 WOLVERHAMPTON
Last Sovereign (11/4) - 3pt win - very well fancied tonight and although he's a much better horse at Kempton, the general feeling is that the course shouldn't be a problem at this level. He meets my own Claimer System requirements and I'm quietly confident.
Today's Selections
Unfortunately I overslept this morning so I'm running a bit behind and for that reason today's write ups will be slight more concise.
1:55 Newmarket - Al Waab (5/1) - 3pt win - one of the most difficult renewals of this race for a punter to try and solve as so many of the horses have room for further improvement. My personal preference is Al Waab though, as he's a confirmed stayer at 1m, has solid form in the book, recorded a solid TS figure over today's distance and hails from a yard who can always get a bit more improvement from their juveniles. Side Bet - 0.50pts Reverse Forecast - Al Waab and Steeler
2:25 Newmarket - Maureen (9/4) - 3pt win - This horse is very unlucky not to be unbeaten as she met plenty of trouble in running when going down by a quarter length to sendmylovetorose. In her three runs to date she has shown endless amounts of talent and the fact that she has been well supported obviously bodes well as Hughes has ridden 2 of the other horses at the head of the market. I fully expect this horse to win the race but if their is going to be an upset then I believe that it may come in the form of an outsider and Gold Cheongsam maybe the horse for e/w backers.
3:00 Newmarket - Elusive Kate (5/2) - 3pt win - Like every racing enthusiast I would love to see Beauty Parlour win this race but I just feel that at the current time and in todays conditions, Elusive Kate is the better horse. From my pace analysis of the race their is every chance that Buick will get an uncontested lead and if that does prove to be the case then this gutsy filly is going to be very difficult to pass.
3:40 Newmarket - King's Warrior (16/1) - 1pt e/w - If i'm wearing my punters hat, then for all intense and purposes, I wouldn't touch this race with a barge pole but there is something so exciting about a calvary charge and therefore wearing my racing enthusiasts hat I decided to have a small financial interest in the race but in all honest I wouldn't be surprised if my horse finishes last because this is a complete lottery!
5:05 Market Rasen - Spirit of Shankly (1/1) - 3pt win - Info for this horse today and he carries maximum stable confidence. NHF racing can always throw up a few surprises though and therefore dispute the really positive word, I will not be max betting this one.
So, due to limited time, that's it for now but I will try and get some write ups done for the Hill's runners and I maybe adding one or two bets elsewhere as the day progresses so watch this space.

Jumps Double
I don't usually get involved in the jumps at this time of year but two horses from the Longsdon yard have caught my eye and although I won't be backing them in Singles, I will be placing a 1pt double. Charlie has a very good strike rate at the course and the fact that he sends these two horses to make their seasonal debuts here is very interesting. Tidal Way has apparently been schooling extremely well and from flat rating point of view is well in at the weights, while Time for Spring brings solid form to the race and is a horse who always runs well fresh.
12:00 Stratford - Tidal Way (2/1)
1:05 Stratford - Time for Spring (5/2) - 1pt Double
12:00 Stratford - Tidal Way (2/1)
1:05 Stratford - Time for Spring (5/2) - 1pt Double
Today's Selections
I'm a bit short of time today so will be keeping my write up's brief.
1:15 Newmarket - Waterway Run (4/1) - 3pt win - If I was being sensible I would probably be avoiding this maiden as a case can be made for 5 or 6 of the runners. There is a lot to like about Waterway Run's profile though and if she steps up on her impressive effort last time out then she definitely has a favourites chance of winning the race. There is every chance that she will once again get an uncontested lead today and as the best bred horse in the race on dosage and with the uphill climb likely to suit, she should run well.
1:45 Newmarket - Thistle Bird (3/1) - 3pt win - For me this is a two horse race and although Dank has the potential to beat the favourite, I think she will really but up against it in this contest. The TS rating achieved by TB on her last run was truly exemplary and provided she is still in the same form (market suggests that she is) I would be amazed if she didn't go very close to winning this race. In my opinion 3/1 is a massive price and this was very close to being a max bet. Side Bet = 0.50pt RF - Thistle Bird and Dank (total stake 1pt).
2:20 Newmarket - Most Improved (4/1) - 3pt win - Now, I'm taking a serious punt here because this horse has been terrible on it's last couple of runs and I don't really buy into all the excuses connections have made regarding his poor run LTO. However, it's difficult to over look the fact that his form in England is solid and he seems to thrive at the course. The real key to his chances today though, will be the tactics employed by Fallon and I really hope that he ping's him out of the stalls in an attempt to make as all because the horse has looked very uncomfortable in between rivals in recent races. Due to his stamina he should have no problem stringing his opposition out early and he's very likely to get an uncontested lead as there appears to be little or no pace in the race. If Fallon doesn't do this and instead sits for a run and they crawl through the first few furlongs, I will be backing Sovereign Debt in running, because the turn of foot he has exhibited off a slow pace in previous races is devastating. All things considered, I believe I will know my fate within a minute of the race starting.
2:55 Newmarket - Roz (12/1) - 1pt e/w - The first thing to note here is that I would not put anyone off backing the favourite in this race as I think she is an incredibly talented individual but her frame isn't particularly imposing and I worry that this race may just come too soon for her. With that in mind its a straight shooting match between Roz and Ollie Olga and my slight preference due to the speed angle in the race is Roz, who I believe will attempt to make all as she did last time out. In my experience if a horse gets a few lengths on you coming up that hill, it's difficult to get it back and I'm hoping Crowley gives the horse a solid ride.
9:15 Wolverhampton - Joyful Spirit (15/8) - 6pt win - I usually try to avoid Fillies on the AW like the plague but I've heard that this horse is extremely well fancied today and is fully expected to land a substantial gamble. It's not often that I max bet an info bet outside of the Hill's yard but this one has all the makings of a serious plunge horse.

Today's Selections
2:00 Newmarket - Autun (14/1) - 1pt e/w - You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that the Stoute horse is going to be hard to beat in this race. His trainer is starting to hit form with his juvenile performers and Telescope has come in for significant support since the market formed. Despite that though, in my opinion, you would be a brave man to back a 4/7 shout in a maiden and for that reason, I decided to have a speculative e/w punt on Sir Henry's mount. The horse in question has a very nice pedigree and it has proven to be a bloodline which matures quickly (dam debut winner). Autun's trainer has a good strike rate newcomers and also holds a 20% win strike rate at the course with his juveniles. I would be lying if I said that Telescope wasn't the most likely winner but I'm hopeful that Autun can at least place and he may just have a little more speed than most of the horses in the line up which could come in handy if there is an even pace.
2:35 Newmarket - Authorship (8/1) - 1pt e/w - Backing the least unexposed horse in a maiden at Newmarket doesn't always work out too well but there is something about this horse's profile which really caught my eye. The first thing to note is that he won on debut beating two experienced horses who were both well regarded by their connections (Disclaimer and Lightening Launch). The second thing to note, is that he won that day despite being weak in the betting and showing obvious signs of greeness. He has subsequently been given a short break and will hopeful have developed significantly during that time. Although on jockey bookings he looks to be the trainers second string, I find it almost impossible to believe that the horse isn't capable of winning this race if his trainer want's him to and his performance in the market over the next few hours will be a key indicator.
3:40 Newmarket - Ebn Arab (5/1) - 3pt win - Now obviously most punters will be following the adverbial band wagon and lumping on the Hannon horse in light of the over night plunge which has seen the horse get smashed into a best price of 5/6. To be honest I can't blame people for doing that as the horse clearly has a great chance and rates as one of the best horses in the Hannon's powerful Juvenile string but spare a little thought for the Hill's horse. Ebn Arab was incredibly impressive on his debut and he carried plenty of stable money that day. His next race came along in a Group 3 contest at York and once again the call was passed down and I was informed to lump on, as the horse was extremely well fancied. It wasn't to be that day though as the horse failed to pick up when asked the question, leaving connections to believe that the combo of the erratic pace and the ground had worked against him. Despite that though, the three horses in front of him that day are some of the best 2yo's in the country at this time and connections have no doubt that this horse belongs in group company. With conditions to suit and only one horse to beat, Ebn Arab looks over priced at 5/1 and although the smart punter will probably air on the side of caution and back e/w, I see this bet as an investment in the horse's potential and for that reason I have taken the plunge and backed him to win.
4:50 Newmarket - Basseterre (4/1) - 3pt win - My regular readers will know that there is no love loss between Keiran Fallon and I and despite receiving a very strong word for this horse I nearly didn't place a bet due to his presence. The horse is thought to have a rock solid chance of winning this race though and for that reason I decided to give Fallon the benefit of the doubt. Basseterre was actually very well fancied to win his last race on return from a break but despite travelling strongly through the race, he failed to pick up when it really mattered and a lack of race fitness clearly took its toll. He came out of the race well though and he gets a valuable weight to age concession here. Although there has been money around for a few of the older horses (Chapter and Verse and Directorship) I still believe that this is a race which Basseterre really should be winning and if Fallon hadn't been on board this would have been a max bet.
So that completes today's turf selections however there may be a few more this evening if anything catches my eye at tonight's meeting at Wolverhampton.
Best of luck and fingers cross the rain stays away at HQ.

Kempton Info
As promised I have an info selection on the AW tonight. The horse in question is returning to Kempton for the first time since winning there back in November and connections believe that he is now weighted to win again. The horse in question is MOUNTAIN RANGE and he runs in the 8:20, which is a class 4 race over 1m 4f. The yard have the upmost respect for Refractor and the Murphy horse but they are confident that having blown away the cobwebs in his last race, Mountain Range should be primed or a big, big run today.
8:20 Kempton - Mountain Range (7/1) - 1pt e/w and 3pt win.
8:20 Kempton - Mountain Range (7/1) - 1pt e/w and 3pt win.
1pt Double
2:00 Goodwood - Backstage Tour (4/1)
2:35 Goodwood - Man of Plenty (3/1)
Despite already having bets in these two races both of the horses above have been the subject of some interesting money with a reputable private bet broking firm and the feeling is that they could give the bookies a serious beating today.

Today's Selections
Once again, we are at the mercy of the elements today and although there is some all weather racing this evening, the turf meetings today look like a complete lottery. With that in mind, there will only be 4 turf selections and I've tried to find a bit of e/w value. There will also be some further bets at Kempton this evening including a possible info horse.
2:00 Goodwood - Cast a Vision (12/1) - 1pt e/w - I couldn't call this an info pick because it hasn't come from anyone connected with the yard but I do know that as a yearling, this horse got plenty of bloodstock experts excited as he scores highly on dosage and is out of an american thoroughbred who's progeny have been performing very well in the US. Unlike most of today's opposition CAV has previous experience under his belt and despite only finishing 5th of 12, I was actually quite impressed by the performance. It's obviously that he will have to step up on that run if he is to win today but it's not a strong race for the track and he may just benefit from the step up in trip.
2:35 Goodwood - Signed Up (3/1) - 3pt win - This horse went into my alerts after a very promising performance on it's second career start when winning a Class 5 maiden at Sandown over 10f. He recorded am RP rating of 91 that day and the form has worked out reasonably well with a hat full of horses going on to win reasonable handicap races. The horse was put away after that race but it is no surprised that he turns out today, as his trainer looks to land her third win in the contest in the last 8 years. On the basis of his pedigree and previous performances, neither the ground, nor the step up in trip will pose him any problems and with one of Goodwood's best jockeys taking the ride, for an owner he has achieved a 28% win rate for, this horse should overcome his absence and continue his progression. What ever happens, he is definitely a horse to follow over the next 6 months as he has a bright future in middle distance handicaps. Side Bet - 0.50pt Reverse Forecast - Signed Up and Man of Plenty.
3:10 Goodwood - Aegaeus (6/1) - 1pt e/w - There is no doubt that this is a potential plot horse today and it may just be that this retiring trainer is looking to land a win at his local track with a horse who carries his greatest legacy to racing. Whenever you see Frankie taking a ride in these famous colours you have to take note and the early money around for this one following the withdrawal of Dunlop's other runner would suggest that punters can expect a big run for their money today. Side Bet - 0.50pt Reverse Forecast - Aegaeus and Ghost Protocol
3:40 Goodwood - Pisco Sour (8/1) - 1pt e/w - For those of you that don't know, it pays to follow the Godolphin horses in this race as they have an impeccable record, winning 6 of the last 10 renewals. With that in mind, the fact that Pisco Sour is Bin Suroor's sole representative, probably tells us punters everything we need to know. Pisco went to France upon his return from Meydan and took part in a nice little pipe opener in a Group 3 contest over a mile. It was no surprise he was well beaten that day, as the trip was inadequate and the jockey never really put him in a position to win the race but I would be amazed if that was the case again today. The horse stays all day (related to smart hurdler), has form on soft ground, recorded his best RP and TS rating over today's trip and is tactically versatile. Dettori takes the ride for the first time in the horses career and I'm hoping that he can at least snatch a place.

Treble and a e/w single
3:50 Newton - Come What Augustus (2/1)
3:40 Beverley - Altharoos (5/6)
4:40 Beverly - Giorgio's Dragon (7/4)
1pt Treble
3:40 Beverly - Love Marmalade (12/1) - 1pt e/w

1pt Treble
3:40 Beverly - Love Marmalade (12/1) - 1pt e/w
Today's Jump Selections
2:20 Newton Abbott - Lovely Mick (5/1) - 1pt e/w - This is a very low grade novice hurdle and most of the runners are either very poor flat performers switching codes or exposed jumpers who have shown only a grain of hurdling prowess. With that in mind, I decided to side with the newcomer, she's very well bred (out of Alflora) and hails from a yard who have been having a good time of things with their novices so far this season. She definitely wouldn't need to be anything special to win this race first time out as only My Legal Lady looks looks to have the makings of a jumper but she's returning from a break and is unlikely to enjoy today's conditions. I have no idea what this horses home work has been like but the Twiston boys know the time of day and I'm hopeful the horse can give a good account of herself on debut.
Today's Selections
The first thing to note today is that conditions are atrocious and with more rain forecast in the next few hours, things look certain to deteriorate further. With that in mind, there will only be limited selections from me today as it's extremely difficult to gauge how individual horses will perform.
2:30 Folkstone - Secretori (9/2) - 3pt win - following the withdrawal of Curl the field has been reduced to 5 runners and it looks like a close knit affair. Although Secretori's form doesn't look that inspiring, its actually pretty consistent and he has put in solid runs in recent weeks behind the likes of Ronaldinho, Jumeirah Moon, Secret Sign and Ashaadd. Until today, he has been campaigned over 6-7 furlongs in his last 3 races but he did make his debut over 5f, and he actually came in for a bit of support, at big prices, before the off. His ability to stay further than today's trip will obviously hold him in good stead given the current conditions and he has also exhibited an ability to handle soft ground. His jockey, Liam Keniry has a good strike rate at the track and due to the lack of pace in the race I wouldn't be surprised if he got this horse to the front early on. If this is the case then he will have to time the fractions to perfections, as an overly enthusiastic pace would no doubt set the race up for a closer such as Starlight Angel. Given Liam's record at the track and in general, I would say he's more than capable of winning this race from the front and although the horse appears to be tactically versatile, if I trained him, those would be my instructions to the Jock.
3:30 Folkstone - Schoolmaster (8/1) - 1pt e/w - It's looks like Folkstone is turning into the Keniry show as far as I'm concerned today but irrespective of the fact that he rides this horse, I think Schoolmaster has a real live wire chance in this race despite having a poor draw. The horse has only had 5 runs to date which makes him one of the less exposed horses in the line up, he has performed consistently but has tended to ruin his chances by pulling hard in the early stages of his races. My hope is that they will go off very fast in this race as the likes of Duster, Centrifugal and potentially Myboyalfie battle it out for the rail in the early stages. That should allow Schoolmaster to sit in behind the early pace and that will hopefully allow him to settle, get into his rhythm and exploit his stamina late on as the early pace setters begin to tire. The last point to note is that his Sire is Motivator and his progeny absolutely thrive under today's conditions. All thing's considered, I'm hopeful that he will at least run into a place.
4:40 Beverley - Oddysey (5/1) - 1pt e/w - Now this would have been a win bet if it wasn't for the significant gamble which seems to be taking shape on the 11 race maiden Only Orsenfoolies. Personally, I can't see OO suddenly breaking his maiden tag especially as the race is unlikely to unfold in the way that he will want but the money has to be respected in a weak contest such as this. For me though, Oddysey is massively overpriced here today. Up until her last run, she had the profile of an extremely progressive individual and had won twice and finished second twice in four runs since her seasonal return in June. As a resulted of those performance she found herself on a mark of 75 LTO and despite being very well backed before the off, she was held and could only finish 3rd. Conditions that day were far from ideal though and a few things went wrong during the race itself. With conditions looking slightly more favourable today and with her regular jockey back in the saddle claiming 3lb, I believe she still has room for further improvement from this mark.

3:10 Beverley Info
Ponty Acclaim (7/2) - 3pt win - I have received a heads up about this horse for tomorrow and I suggest that all readers take advantage of the current price with Paddy Power. The horse has been traveling extremely well in her races recently but has failed to pick up when asked the question. Connections have subsequently been trying her in the hood at home and her home work has improved significantly. There is no doubt that at the weights she holds a solid claim and with heavy rain forecast overnight, her ability to handle a bit of cut could prove to be invaluable. Connections are apparently very confident about her chances and with conditions in her favour and with a strong early pace likely, this horse should go very close to taking the prize. One thing is certain though, she will not go into the stalls tomorrow at a price of 7/2.
Today's Turf Selections
With conditions at Hamilton poor and Leicester uninspiring, I will only be having two turf bets today. Both of them are speculative and for that reason, I will not be supplying detailed write ups.
2:10 Hamilton - Master Bond (8/1) - 1pt ew (UP)
3:00 Leicester - Back In The Frame (8/1) - 1pt e/w (NR)

Today's AW Selections/Info - 24/09/12
I have a busy day tomorrow so I will be posting my A/W selections now as the markets are yet to be formed on the majority of the races at Leicester and there are no bets at Hamilton due to the ground.
4:20 Kempton - Poole Harbour (8/1) - 1pt e/w - A great little race featuring plenty of previous course winners and a few progressive looking horses. Although Poole Harbour may not be the obvious choice on a form point of view, I really fancy his chances in this one and I was nearly tempted to place a straight win bet. The reason for my confidence is the horses one and only previous run at the course, in which he finished first in a Class 5 maiden over 7f. He put in a very impressive performance that day recording and RP rating of 90 and he form has worked out well. I always believe it pays to follow horse who have seemingly be kept away from the scene of their most impressive run and he has not returned to the track since that win in May. I believe that the talented Hannon team may have found him the perfect opportunity to cement his status as a Kempton specialist and the fact that he stays further than 6f ,will hopefully negate the disadvantage of being drawn out wide. All things considered, I think he is a massive price at 8/1 and I would be very surprised if he didn't at least place under the prolific Richard Hughes. (2nd)
4:50 Kempton - Ruscello (11/2) - 3pt win - This is the one and only info selection for tomorrow and he is apparently very well fancied to win this race. The yard won last years renewal and Ruscello has had this race as his primary target since winning over 11f at the track back in July. His win that day was eye catching and the time was blistering, as the clock was stopped at 2m 17.92s (fast by 0.58s). The form of that race has worked out extremely well and with George Baker booked you can guarantee that the horse is going to get a text book hold up ride. The only slight concern would be whether he will get a strong pace to aim at but I'm hopeful that the like of Caphira, Yazdi and Cherry Street will see that he does. (1st)
5:20 Kempton - Cruiser (4/1) - 3pt win - It was a very close call between Cruiser and Golden Tempest in this race but in the end Cruisers performance in a hot looking Class 2 event, over CD, last time out, tipped the scale in his favour. He seems to save his best for the Kempton course and there is no doubt that tomorrows race represents a significant drop in class. I don't think there is going to be much pace on as only Copperwood really looks capable of taking the lead and therefore Cruisers prominent style will hopefully put him in a great position to win the race. In my opinion this is a solid win bet and I will be amazed if the price of 4/1 lasts long. (UP)

6:00 Plumpton
No doubting that it's been a poor day today but the info bet did win to reduce the overall loss which was a small consolation. I had a long look at the 6:00 race earlier in the day but decided not to back anything as it looked like a bit of a lottery but I've had another look and I really fancy the chances of the favourite. He has a couple of hurdle wins to his name and although he flopped on his last run on the flat, he had been consistent up until then. His trainer has been in fine form this season and his jockey is very good value for his 5lb claim. With the majority of the field looking very weak I just feel that Bazart should really have what it takes to win the race.

Today's Selections
Bit rushed for time today so write ups will be brief.
2:20 Hamilton - Lucy Bee (5/1) - 3pt win - Conditions are once again dire at Hamilton today but this is a horse who should have no problem with them. She has the stamina to stay much further than today's trip and I wouldn't be surprised if her trainer has instructed her jockey to ping her out, set a decent pace and attempt to make all. Solid betting proposition as far as I'm concerned. (UP)
2:50 Hamilton - Pearl Ransom (4/1) - 3pt win - Very difficult to choose between the three horses at the head of the market, especially as Johnston has such an amazing record in this race but my slight preference is for the Ryan horse who was very well supported last time out and was ridden as though a step up in trip was exactly what he needed. (UP)
4:50 Hamilton - Red Tyke (6/1) - 1pt e/w - Not a race I would usually get involved with but I've had a word for this horse and he is thought to be more than capable of winning this race on his return from jumps duty. (1st)
That's it for today's flat meetings but there may be one or two jumps selections to follow in due course and obviously we have the max bet on Caponata.

3:45 Gowran Park
Caponata (2/1) - 6pt Max Bet - This horse was very unlucky not to win last time out in Group 3 company and I'm finding it almost impossible to find any reason why she shouldn't win tomorrow. She is clearly the pick at the weights and with conditions promising to be perfect for her the current price of 2/1 seems absolutely massive. I usually wouldn't post a selection the night before a race but my concern is that but the time I posted this tomorrow the horse would be closer to evens than 2/1. With that in mind, my advice to all readers is to get on as quickly as possible!
7:50 Wolverhampton
Exceedexpectations (5/1) - 1pt e/w - This horse was a max bet for the blog on it's last run but unfortunately my faith wasn't repaid as he put in a below par effort. His connections have taken the decision to drop the horse back in trip today and I have a feeling that it may well pay dividends. Plenty of his opposition have been well below par in recent runs and or lack AW form but I do fear the favourite who has been well supported and for that reason I have aired on the side of caution and backed it e/w
Today's Selections
1:30 Newbury - Market Town (7/4) - 3pt win - This promising juvenile is very strongly fancied to make a winning appearance on his second start. It's difficult to be too confident in a race like this with so many unknown quantities going to post but in situations like this you have to back your horses ability and that's exactly what the Hill's camp are doing today. (3rd)
2:05 Newbury - Coquet (6/1) - 1pt e/w - If the market is anything to go by Cameron Highland should win this race comfortably but I believe that my selection could prove to be the value bet in the race. If you ignore Coquet's last run then he has the profile of an ultra progressive horse and its easy to forgive her performance at York as her preparation had been fine from ideal and the trainer openly admitted that the run was always likely to be a pipe opener. Today that definitely will not be the case and it's interesting that connections have chosen to employ Hanagan to take the ride. All things considered, I would be very disappointed if this one didn't go close today. (3rd)
2:10 Newmarket - Victrim Ludorum (11/1) - 1pt e/w - Not a race I would usually be looking to get involved with but I've received a spot of info for this horse and she is expected to step up significantly on her last run. The general feeling is that he last run can be discounted as she didn't have a clear passage and was given a sympathetic introduction. Today the horse is expected to show why she cost £75,000 and the conditions are thought to be ideal. (1st)
2:35 Newbury - Moohajim (3/1) - 3pt win - I'm very surprised to see this horse trading at prices in excess of 3/1 as he appears to have endless amounts of potential. Any horse which wins a Class 2 race at Ascot on debut has to be taken very seriously in a race like this and his performance last time out in the Prix Morny represented a further step forward. Obviously there are some very good horses in the race and I know the Hill's yard are hopeful that Funk Soul Brother will at least place but I just can't look beyond this impeccably bred Cape Cross colt and he was very nearly a max bet. (1st)
2:45 Newmarket - Ashaadd (13/2) - 3pt win - Simple selection given that Varian is reaching for his magic hood after the horse put in a disappointing performance in Group 3 company LTO. In his penultimate race the horse ran an absolute blinder in Class 3 company and only went down by a few lengths to the ultra impressive Pearl Acclaim. They is no doubt that he has the form in the book to win this race and if the hood has the desired affect then this one could be the steal of the day at 13/2. (UP)
3:45 Newbury - Kingsgate Native (8/1) -1pt e/w - I'm probably betting with my heart rather than my head here but I love this horse and I really hope he can get back to winning ways today. His last run should have brought him on and it's no secret that he has been working very well at home. With conditions in his favour and connections quietly confident I'm hoping he will at least place, The Hill's runner is also thought to have an outside chance due to the weight concessions and although it was a close call between the two, I just think that on his day, Kingsgate is a cut above todays opposition.(2nd)
4:20 Newbury - Race and Status (12/1) - 1pt e/w - Now I may live to regret this because I'm opposing the Hill's horse Shaishee who has been putting in some very pleasing work on the gallops and is expected to be very competitive today stepping up in trip. That may lead some of you to ask, well why are you backing something else? The reason, I have been waiting for this horse to run since I first got a report when he was purchased at Tattersal in October. The horse has a stunning pedigree and I know he has been working nicely at home. The yard won this race with a newcomer in 2010 and I'm hoping they can repeat that feat today. (1st)
4:50 Newbury - African Oil (7/1) -No Bet - I have decided not to back this horse today as there is just too much competition in the race. The horse came out of his last race well and has been working really well at home but with so many unexposed horses going to post and with plenty of them being supported, it's impossible to be in this race with any confidence. Neither I or connections would be at all surprised if the horse won though and he is definitely capable of being very competitive off his current mark.
4:05 Ayr- Pearl Castle (7/2) - 3pt win - A difficult little race to assess and the job is made even harder by the current conditions at the track but Pearl Castle looks like the type to go close today. He was an expensive purchase for a powerful set of connections and his win last time out saw him go into my alerts as a horse to follow. Being out on Montjeu, the conditions today shouldn't pose too much of a threat and unlike many of his opposition, he should have no problem with seeing out the mile. (UP)
2:05 Newbury - Coquet (6/1) - 1pt e/w - If the market is anything to go by Cameron Highland should win this race comfortably but I believe that my selection could prove to be the value bet in the race. 4:50 Newbury
Saigon (10/1) - 1pt e/w - This is a horse I followed as a 2yo but he just hasn't managed to show his true ability yet this season. I have a feeling that might all change today though as he returns to one of his favoured tracks and his connections have elected to remove the headgear which suggests to me that we are finally going to see the horse race prominently. I have watched each and everyone of his races this season and it has been so frustrating seeing Kirsty continue to hold the horse up in no man's land waiting for a run. It's evident to me that the horse doesn't have the turn of foot to be ridden that way and I just hope that I'm correct and Toller moves the goal posts today because if he does, I think this one has a real chance of winning the race.
1:00 Brighton
Mizwaaj (7/1) - 1pt e/w and 3pt win - Had a long look at this race and the more I look at it the more I fancy this horse to get the job done. Invincible Spirit progeny have stunning strike rate at the track and when this particular connections send a horse to Brighton a punter should always stand up and take note and this lightly raced colt, who I'm told is bound for the festival in Dubai later this year, will not find a better chance to win a race on the turf. The only real danger I can see is Love Verse but he's been very busy this month already and I think it may just take it's toll today.
Today's Selections
12:00 Brighton - Silver Bullet (9/1) - No bet yet - I received some info from this horse last night but the steady drift in the market has made me doubt my source slightly. Having assessed the race myself, I think the horse holds strong claims and in my experience the handicapper regularly underestimates the value of selling form. For the time being, I am going to refrain from backing the horse though and will wait until later on in the day to see how the market is shaping up. I will keep reads updated as to what I decide via the comments section on this post so watch that space. (1st - SP 12/1)
1:50 Ayr - Annas Pearl (6/5) - 3pt win - Conditions at Ayr are going to make it difficult to find winners today but I really like the look of this Beckett trained colt. I was impressed with the way he performed on debut and with time I think the form of that race should work out well. I'm not overly convinced that the heavy going will be to his liking but he should hopefully have the necessary class to fend off his rivals. Beckett doesn't send many to Ayr so you can guarantee that he will be competitive.
2:20 Ayr - Garswood (8/1) - 1pt e/w - Now obviously, the horse to beat in this race is the Irish raider Boston Rocker who has heavy ground experience and some solid form. At 9/4 though, I don't feel too bad about opposing him and in the end it was a close call between Garswood and Rivellino. Rivellino's refusal to enter the stalls last time out put me off but there is no doubt that this talented horse can make his mark in better company than this, and he has to be feared considering Mrs Burke won this race with another promising type a few years ago. However, Garswood has always been highly thought of by his trainer and he is unlucky to still be a maiden having bumped into some very promising horses in his two runs to date. Like Annas Pearl above, I'm not sure that the ground will suit him but the fact that Fahey allows this highly promising type to run, suggests to me that he may be capable of handling it. He has come in for a bit of money early doors and if he can step up slightly on his previous two runs, then he should be bang in the mix. Side Bet - 0.50pt RF - Boston Rocker and Faithfully.
3:05 Newbury - Grandeur (2/1) - 3pt win - This is one of those races which drives punters mad as it contains all the ingredients of an upset. You have horses stepping up in trip, horses dropping back in trip and horses returning from substantial breaks. In my experience, it always pay to side with the in form types in this kind of race though and for me that is Grandeur. His run last time out in Group 3 company was very impressive and with Buick riding today off just 1lb higher than his minimum riding weight, you can bet your last £ that he's not there to ease this one around the track. My only concern is that today's trip is probably a bare minimum for the horse now but I'm hoping that Cai Shen will set a decent gallop. If that fails then I would have thought Buick will take the initiative early on, push the horse to the front, and try to get a few of the suspected non stayers off the bridal early.
3:40 Newbury - Flashheart (20/1) - 1pt e/w - There is no doubt that Wentworth is the horse to beat here and I was very close to siding with the horse who is apparently the most promising 2yo to come out of the Hannon yard this year. In the end though, the price of Flashheart was just too appealing. The main reason for my interest in the horse is the trainer stunning record in the race, he has won 3 of the last 10 renewals and this particular individual is bred to be precocious. I have to be realistic and reiterate that this horse will have to be very, very smart to beat the likes of Wentworth on debut but at the current price (which will probably drift before shortening) he looks like a solid e/w bet.
4:15 Newbury - Desert Image (12/1) - 1pt e/w - Now this is a speculative bet because it's success relies on the premiss that one of the two horses at the head of the field will not preform. That being said though, Desert Image has been performing extremely well at home and has all the makings of a nice performer. She has been slow played due to her pedigree but connections now feel that the time is right and it looks like a good place for her to start her life as a racer. It's difficult not to be impressed by the manner of the favourites victory last time out and if history tells us anything then she should go on to bigger and better things, but her trainer has made no secret of the fact that she carries plenty of conditioning and the Hills camp and I will both be hoping that this race comes too soon for her.
So, that concludes today's selections and hopefully they will be as successful as yesterdays.
Best of luck.
P.S - As always all bets are BOG
Kempton Info
8:10 - Storm King (13/2) - 1pt e/w - Now, after such a successful day I'm slightly reluctant to post this info horse as I've taken a long hard look at the race and I can't narrow the field down to just one selection. Despite that, I have received a strong word for this horse who is thought to be ultra progressive and is 'more than capable of mixing it with today's company' Apparently plenty in the yard have backed him to win tonight but i'm airing on the side of caution and have backed it e/w just in case.
Best of luck if you follow.
Best of luck if you follow.
Today's Selections & Info
3:00 Pontefract - Teetotal (9/1) - 1pt e/w - On first glance this horse looks to be exposed and that is probably the case but I have a feeling that he will be competitive in this race today. Pontefract is a difficult course to handle and the run in will really test the stamina of these young sprinters. If you look at TT's opposition you will see that nearly all of them are bred to be out and out sprinters. TT on the other hand, has the pedigree of a 7f+ horse and that could provide him with a significant advantage today. (2nd - SP 12/1)
3:05 Listowel - Romintheglomin (5/1) - 3pt win - Horse looked progress in the early part of the season over today's distance and ran a cracker to beat Unanimous by half a length back in July. Her last run was not so impressive but she was taking a step back in trip and that was always going to be likely to inconvenience her. With conditions in her favour today and with the benefit of a talented 3lb claimer, she should get back on track and record her second career win. (1st)
3:20 Yarmouth - Aseela (7/2) - 3pt win - Not a great race as far as betting opportunities are concerned but I think that Aseela represents a good bet nonetheless. The question punters have to ask themselves is which horses in the line will benefit the most from the step up in trip and my general feeling is that it will be the mount of Tom Queally. Aseela is related to some very smart middle distance performers and will no doubt require even further than a mile in time but if there is a strong early pace in the race today and she gets something to aim at coming into the home straight, there shouldn't be a horse finishing stronger than her. The question will then be whether Tom can put her in a position to win the race. (1st - SP 9/2)
4:00 Pontefract - Dancheur (6/1) - 1pt e/w - It was a close call between this horse and My Sharona but in the end my slight preference was for Dancheur due to the current ground conditions. This 3yo filly from the Burke yard is relatively unexposed and has been running consistently this season, winning twice in her 6 career turf starts. My general feeling is that she is probably a better horse over 7f but I'm hoping that this won't be an issue at Ponte especially as she has a plum draw and Harley may look to force the early pace. She holds entries in the Bronze, Silver and Gold Cup at Ayr this weekend and I'm hopeful of a big run today. (UP)
4:20 Yarmouth - Repeater (9/4) - 6pt Max Bet - The fact is that Prescott has to win with this one because after today the horses revised mark, +14lb, will make things very difficult for him. He was well supported before his last race which was in much better company that this and I would be amazed if the horse wasn't ultra competitive today. There is obviously a chance that this race will come to soon but the drop back in trip should help him on that front and I'm sure his trainer wouldn't be turning this horse out quickly if he hadn't have come out of his last race well. He's miles ahead of his competition today on my ratings and the current price looks like an absolute steal. (UP)
5:00 Pontefract - Homeric (7/1) - 1pt e/w - This is the first info horse of the day but it's one to proceed with caution on. I have been told that the horse has been working well at home and has really settled down since being gelded. Connections believe that he has been found a perfect opportunity to get his career back on track and that the conditions today, together with the trip, should be ideal. I have checked the horse out and I have no reason to doubt the info I have received but it's always difficult to be 100% confident about a horse who is returning from a break of over 300+ days. (2nd - SP 11/4)
5:30 Yarmouth - Signor Sassi (9/4) - 3pt win - I can't really look beyond this horse in this race as he is clearly the form pick and should be very dangerous back on a more conventional track. He's clearly capable of winning again off his current mark and with conditions in his favour and with question marks over a few of his opposition, I would be slightly disgruntled if this selection didn't get the job done. (1st)
That concludes today's turf selections but there may be one more to come on the AW tonight as I am waiting on a phone call from the same man who gave us the 11/1 winner I have dreamed last night. You will all hear as soon as I do.
Here's to another profitable days racing.

Two more to add
2:55 Listowel - Chamonix (11/8) - 3pt win - for me this is clearly the best horse in the race and with proven form over the distance and with conditions posing no problems he should oblige today under a forceful front running ride. (1st)
8:45 Kempton - We Have A Dream (11/1) - 1pt e/w - Today is apparently the day for this horse as he has now dropped to a workable mark and returns to a surface which suits. The plan will be to turn him out again quickly after today (entry at Wolves) as he has always been a horse capable of landing penalty kicks when slow played for handicap manipulation. (1st)

Today's Selections/Write Ups and Info
1:15 Doncaster - Hoyam (4/1) - 3pt win - I'm reluctant to oppose the Hannon horse her but I just feel that the previous key trends in this race point towards a big run from this talented Bell Filly. The manner of her LTO win was very impressive and she did everything that was asked of her despite encountering a bit of trouble in running. She has the perfect profile of a Flying Childers winner and I believe that the current price is cracking value - Side Bet = 0.50pt RF with Sir Prancealot
1:50 Doncaster - Number Theory (11/1) - 1pt e/w - For win purposes I think the Johnston horse will be very hard to beat here today but there is a lot to be admired about Number Theory's attitude and he has already been a great servant to his connections. He rarely runs a bad race and despite carrying top weight today his performances LTO in the Ebor was commendable and he is a horse on an upward curve.
2:15 Lyon - Linguine (4/1) - 3pt win - One of the more interesting runners from the Hill's yard today, not easy to place a bet on the race but if you can find a site which is trading it could be well worth a punt. Connections have sent the horse there hunting a significant yearling sales bonus fund and despite going into unknown territory, their initial assessment is that the horse has every chance of returning with the prize.
2:20 Doncaster - Times Up (5/1) - 3pt win - It can not be a coincidence that Mr Dunlop has decided that today was the day to inform the world of his pending retirement. He has won this race twice in the past and it has always been one which he has targeted over the years. Times Up will obviously have to step up on his previous win if he is to get the job done here today as Saddler's Rock performance was too bad to be true that day but I think he has further improvement in him and a win in this race would be a fitting end to Dunlop's glittering career.
2:55 Doncaster - Reyaadah (17/2) - 1pt e/w - There is no doubt that Certify is the horse to beat here and if the rumours about her homework are true then she could easily win this race with a bit in hand but the general feeling amongst the Hill's camp, is that their filly is better than she showed last time out. She refused to settle in the early part of the race and was notably green but picked up strongly and they believe she will be a better horse today. Like many they have the utmost respect for the Godolphin horse but they are hopefully that their filly will at least give her a run for the money. Side Bet = Certify & Reyaadah - 1pt CSF
3:05 Sandown - Basseterre (3/1) - 3pt win - This is a horse which I have always liked and connections seem to have found him a perfect opportunity to continue his improvement. He will obviously have to be at the top of his game if he is to out run his race fit rivals but he has been working well at home over the last few weeks and hopefully he will get the job done.
3:30 Doncaster - One More Word (9/2) - no bet - Connections feel that there is every chance that this horse will win the race but it's not a valid betting opportunity. The Gosden horse has been heavily punted and is highly thought of and the Hannon horse made the Hill's yard sweat when he was heavily supported before the off in a race which was eventually won by Just The Judge who carried plenty of stable money. In short, anything could win this and despite know that OMW is fit and ready to go, I just can't justify having a bet. A similar message applies to Shropshire and Cool Macavity who both have work to do if they are to win.

5:15 Doncaster
Six Wives (16/1) - 1pt e/w - Very interesting that Queally heads to the meeting for two rides, one of which is in the most open looking contest of the card. Six Wives was thrown in at the deep end in listed company LTO and was well beaten, but the form of her placed effort at Goodwood behind My Sharona and her win at Beverley, would put her bang in the mix today. Queally is one from one on the horse and has a 21% win rate when riding for Dixon on turf. With his other mount looking to have no chance in it's respective race, I suspect Tom will be hunting a pay day on this ride in the lucky last. He won the race last year on today's favourite and for that reason and the others detailed above, I think she's probably worth an e/w bet.
Today's Selections
2:00 Doncaster - Regal Dan (9/2) - 3pt win - Connection think highly of this horse and he has been very unlucky in his career so far. I was in two minds as to whether to back the horse e/w or win as the advice was that the horse would obviously be trying to win but definitely would not finish outside of the places. In the end, the withdrawal of the Botti horse made my mind up and I went for a straight win but I am very fearful of Hunting Rights who ran a strange race LTO.
2:30 Doncaster - Ribaat (6/4) - 3pt win - I've been hearing plenty about this horse and his presence in the race was apparently enough to scare a few other Newmarket trainers from taking up entries in today's race. There is no doubt that the manner of his debut win was very impressive and providing that the ground isn't too lively, he should record his second victory. Side bet = 0.50pt RF with Cour Valant.
3:05 Doncaster - Sole Power (9/4) - 3pt win - For me this is the last port of call for Sole Power. It has been a long time since he won a race and if he can't beat his opposition today under the terms then he's in real trouble. Murtagh takes the ride and despite having a few on the card, I would say this is one of the reason he's at the meeting today. Side Bet = 1pt CSF with Nocturnal Affair.
4:10 Doncaster - Cai Shen (5/1) - 3pt win - Obviously if the likes of Sole Power and Swedish Sailor are ready to go first time out then my bet will probably prove to be a terrible one. However, Cai Shen knows what it takes to win the race and is fit, which is more than can be said for most of his opposition. Hannon usually starts fast at this meeting and the fact that he only has two runners today would suggest that he has been selective with his entries.
5:15 Doncaster - Perfect Blossom (14/1) - 1pt e/w - I fancied this one on it's last run and the booking of Hanagan (3/3) really catches the eye. She is now a few lb below her last winning mark and should give a good account of herself once more.
