Today's Selection

No matter how many times I look at today's cards only one race appeals to me and for that reason there will only be one selection on the blog today.

2:00 Windsor - Pivotal Movement (5/2) - 6pt max win - This horse has been heavily backed in both of his previous runs and although he has finished down the field on both occasion  both runs have shown plenty of promise. As a Pivotal progeny out of a Selkirk Mare it's extremely likely that he will relish today's conditions and with additional stamina in his pedigree he should be more than capable of staying the distance in today's conditions. In my opinion there is no-one better than Hughes when it comes to negotiating the specialist track at Windsor and from stall 5 there is every chance that he will be able to bag the favoured far rail and string his opposition out early. Personal, I can not see this horse losing today and I think he should really be a clear favourite on what he has achieved so far to date. At a current price of 5/2 he looks like extremely good value and for that reason my one bet today will carry a max stake bet.

Although there has been plenty of money for the Charlton horse today  I have serious reservations about Secondo when it comes to the ground as Royal Jade's most prolific progeny have all performed on good/firm. I also feel that he may struggle to make up ground if he fails to break on level terms as he was very slow to exit the stalls last time out.

As far as the rest of the opposition are concerned, Blue Twister and Overrider are the two which stand out. Blue Twisters debut run was not without promise and juveniles from the Balding usually improve significantly for the run. My only concern is that despite being by Pivotal, his mare usually produces fast, good ground performers and if Blue Twister is cut from the same cloth then today's conditions will definitely be against him. Overrider is fancied to run a big race today and connections are confident that he will handle the conditions. He has previous course experience which is obviously a major positive and if he continues to progress he should be a live wire contender in what is a weak race. With that in mind I will also be having a Side Bet - Pivotal Movement & Overrider 0.50pt Reverse Forecast.
